[edit] EVENT A GREAT SUCCESS!
On Friday 27 April Hooked and the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand presented a premier screening of the film Black Gold. The event was a great success and so thanks to all those who were involved in ensuring that the night ran so smoothly.
There has been some talk of organising a forum of speakers to discuss the more controversial aspects of Fair Trade and some of the issues raised in the film so keep your eyes on the wiki for updates about future events following on from the film
If you have any further queries following up from the film, perhaps you made a new contact that you would like to be put back in touch with, please feel free to email emjlong at yahoo.com (I have omitted the '@' sign in an attempt to avoid spam!)
You can also find more info about the film, including an active forum, at http://www.blackgoldmovie.com
[edit] ABOUT THE FILM
The film is a thought provoking insight into the coffee industry, from Ethiopian coffee farmers to multinational coffee companies. The film has received fantastic reviews and enjoyed sell-out screenings in Europe and the United States, and promises to leave your mind buzzing with thoughts and ideas about international trade relations... You may never look at your coffee in quite the same way!
The film is screening to launch Fair Trade Fortnight 2007 and there will be the opportunity to chat with community members involved in trade justice networks and to gather some more information for yourself. Come at 6:30 to pick up your tickets, grab a glass of wine, and peruse the information available. After the film, feel free to have a chat to somebody from Oxfam, FTAANZ, or Hooked, and add your thoughts and ideas to our larger than life brainstorming canvas!
Tickets are strictly limited and so all are encouraged to book in advance by calling 9480 0179 or downloading an order form from http://wiki.hooked.org.au/Buy_tickets_to_Black_Gold. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or credit.
